‘Story of Hannukkah’ will be at UUCWI

The ancient story from which Hannukkah arose is one of courage, strength and faithfulness to ideals. At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service on Sunday, UUCWI will hold an intergenerational service including stories and activities from the Jewish tradition. All ages will enjoy this timeless celebration.

Childcare will be provided for children younger than 3. The service is at 10 a.m. at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi for more information.

The church’s adult learning forum continues at its regular time of 9 a.m., with Stan Walker leading a study in the Book of Acts and Art Angst leading a study of the Gospel of Luke.

These are open class sessions, and everyone is invited.

SWCC gathers for worship each Sunday at the Deer Lagoon Grange, 5142 Bayview Road, Langley. For further information about the church and services, go to www.whidbeychurch.org or call 221-1220.

Sunday service centers on guidance

“To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.” (Science and Health).

Mary Baker Eddy begins her book with this powerful promise to readers.

This promise is based on the idea that God, the Creator, preserves that creation, and that you, as a child of God, are included in that protection.

“God the Preserver of Man” is the topic of the Sunday, Dec. 13 Christian Science service.

As we enter into the season of travel and family gatherings, come join in exploring how we all come under this umbrella of protection and guidance. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. at 5910 Highway 525 (just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road).

Donna Cori Gibson to sing at St. Hubert

Donna Cori Gibson, a world-class singer from Snohomish, will give a free concert at St. Hubert Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18.

Gibson’s concert will include carols and some sing-alongs.

The beauty and power of her voice has been compared to Celine Dion.

Come and celebrate the reason for the season. Don’t miss this family evening of music open to the community.

The church is located at 804 Third St. in Langley. For more information or questions. Call 221-5383 or visit www.donnacorigibson.com.
