‘The Peripheral Worship Leader’
Langley CMA will host “The Peripheral Worship Leader” seminar from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3.
This is a seminar for people who want to raise the standard of how they lead worship, either individually, or as a team.
Come and enjoy a time of instruction, fellowship and the pursuit of excellence with national-touring Christian musician, David Harsh, who shares his passion for worship.
Harsh will also lead worship that day at Langley CMA at the 10:30 a.m. service, and present a free concert that evening at 6 p.m.
Soap Box Sunday returns to UUCWI
It is a tradition for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island to hold a service in January during which several members of the congregation speak for a few minutes, each on a topic of passion and import in their lives.
UUCWI will hold its Soap Box Sunday at 10 a.m. Jan. 3 at the church.

‘Recognizing Your True Value’ at SWCC
Making New Year’s resolutions? Been to church, lately? Check out any of a number of South End churches that preach Christ crucified and risen.
Pastor Darrell Wenzek will be speaking at South Whidbey Community Church tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. worship. His sermon title is, “Recognizing Your True Value: or How You Can Impact Your Community,” based on Matthew 5:13-16.
The adult learning forum continues at its regular time of 9 a.m., with Stan Walker leading a study in the Book of Acts and Art Angst leading a study into Parables in the Gospel of Luke. Morning worship will be at its regular time at 10 a.m.

‘The Presence of Choice’ at Unity
Doug Benecke will speak on “The Presence of Choice” at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.
As the holidays wind down, after all the cards are read and the presents have been opened, Unity will take time to re-focus our spirits on the presence of the sacred in our lives. As the new year unfolds, we remember our birthright; “to live in the presence of conscious choice”.
Join Benecke, a speaker and songwriter, and violinist Talia Toni Marcus, for a service focused on the power to choose life, to choose love, to choose compassion; moment-by-moment. Spirit provides the power to live in that present and thereby gives light to our loved ones, whether in the neighborhood, on the island or at large in the universe.
