Lori Maxim has been promoted to the position of vice president of
West Sound Newspaper Operations, Sound Publishing President Manfred Tempelmayr announced this week.
In her new role, Maxim will oversee Sound Publishing Inc. newspapers on Whidbey Island, the San Juan Islands and in Kitsap County. Publishers of those newspapers will maintain responsibility for their newspaper operations, the company said.
“I am very excited to have Maxim assume responsibility for this very important component of our company,” Tempelmayr said. “These newspapers form the backbone of our organization and are vital to our future success.”
In addition to The South Whidbey Record, Sound Publishing produces roughly 30 community and suburban newspapers, as well as two business journals and nearly 20 shopper publications throughout Washington and Oregon.
Maxim will take her post on April 15 and will continue to work at the company’s Poulsbo corporate office.
Maxim was previously responsible for the company’s corporate marketing and national sales efforts, a position she has held for several years. She joined Sound Publishing in 1988.
Sound Publishing, a subsidiary of Black Press Ltd., is the largest publisher of community and suburban newspapers in Washington and is also one of the area’s largest commercial web printers.
Sound Publishing also operates web printing facilities in Everett and Bainbridge Island.
