Blueprint roughs outline of future Langley ‘Village’

“A ‘rough’ blueprint of possible unit arrangements of Langley’s future senior citizen’s village was shown at a special meeting of the Langley Planning Commission last Monday. Donald Greve of Freeland, who, two weeks ago, was hired to design the village, said the drawings were only ‘ideas’ at this stage and were made to help prove the feasibility of the chosen site.”

Clinton rallies behinds its welcome sign

“The Clinton Chamber of Commerce is committed to a new ‘Welcome to Whidbey’ sign and members are out raising about $7,500 to make it possible. The creation of the sign will be a public event, as local and imported wood carvers display their talents in a festival atmosphere, possibly in July.”

Blast leads searchers into fruitless effort

“An explosion believed to have originated in the Maxwelton Beach area Saturday night sent sheriff’s deputies and fire district personnel scrambling through dark forests and fields looking for what many Wahl Road-area residents believed was a downed aircraft. Though more than 50 people and a number of dogs from seven public agencies searched for about 12 hours, no plane was found.”
