The community is invited to a memorial service today, Nov. 16, at Oak Harbor High School for the Goheen twins.

Janesah Danae Goheen, 17, passed away Monday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She succumbed to injuries sustained in a Oct. 31 car crash in Skagit County.

Her twin sister, Janeah Dawn Goheen, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The memorial service is at 2 p.m. in the Oak Harbor High School gymnasium.

Paul Kuzina, owner of Whidbey Memorial, said the tragedy has shaken the community to its core.

Kuzina said the memorial service provides the community with an opportunity to honor and remember the girls, grieve together and offer solace.

“The community can come and support the family with their prayers and their love,” he said.

Memorial donations in memory of the twins are suggested to the Goheen Family Fund at any Whidbey Island Bank branch.

Kuzina said there are no words to express the family’s grief.

The twins lost a sister, Jessica Goheen Thorn, in a 2008 automobile accident.

The twins attended Oak Harbor schools, including the high school, but were attending Skagit Valley College in the Running Start program this year.

The twins were on their way to visit haunted houses in Seattle on Halloween when their car was struck by a vehicle driven by Oak Harbor resident Ira Blackstock.

He has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
