The Rev. Jean Claude Masuka Maleka, a United Methodist missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries in Abidjan, Côte D’Ivoire, will speak at Langley United Methodist Church next week.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, with a potluck dinner. The program will following at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Rev. Maleka will share stories and photos of his life and work at an orphanage in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and his current work since November 2013 in Ivory Coast.
He has a Master of Arts degree in peace and governance from Africa University, the United Methodist institution in Mutare, Zimbabwe, and a master’s degree in Bible and theology from Worldwide Evangelical Seminary. He speaks and reads six languages.
“I am deeply committed to the development of a viable church that can help address the critical needs of the community that emerge from times of crisis,” Maleka says.
