Money-saving move next door for city council

Starting in April, Langley City Council meetings are moving to a different location.

Mayor Kennedy Horstman announced this week that the public meetings will take place next door in the newly reopened Langley Library, which has a new space equipped for teleconferenced meetings.

“We’re hoping that the first regular city council meeting in April will be conducted in the new meeting room in the library,” Horstman said. “Pretty thrilled about that.”

The new space is slightly smaller than council chambers with the capacity to expand. The mayor added that city records will be stored in council chambers as a way to save money and move out of the area that is currently being rented. The result will be a slightly smaller room that can still be used for meetings of citizen-led committees.

The next city council meeting is Monday, April 7 at 5:30 p.m.
