Nearly 80 people turned out on a cold, clear New Year’s Day to hike the trails of South Whidbey State Park during the second annual First Day Hike. The event included hikes for families, birding, forest ecology and a preview hike of the new interpretive signs on the Wilbert Trail. Sponsored by the Friends of South Whidbey State Park, the day was part of a nationwide First Day Hikes held in state parks.
