The South Whidbey School District will welcome seven new staff members for the 2014-15 school year tonight.
At a school board business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, the directors will approve the August personnel report, the final step in official hiring, which is Superintendent Jo Moccia’s duty.
The new staff members are: para-educators for special education Couloir Jensen and Christine Amundson; assistant football coaches Kenneth Griffin and Alexander Heilig; assistant girls soccer coach Marie Shimada; new special education teacher Janine Courtright; and teacher Leah Tormey.
The board will also read and discuss a proposed change to the policy regarding staff evaluation procedures. The board proposes to change the wording of the evaluation procedure document to read that evaluations of non-administrative certificated staff performance “shall be done in compliance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with [South Whidbey Education Association].”
In addition, the board will approve the payroll and warrant vouchers as well as the superintendent’s professional development plan for the 2014-15 school year which includes the superintendent’s request to attend three conferences in Spokane, San Diego and Chelan at the district’s expense.
The meeting will be held in the Community Room at South Whidbey Elementary School, 5380 Maxwelton Road.
