The South Whidbey-based Nightcrawlers Garden Club turned 35 this month.
According to a news release, the club formed in 1980 with 13 members. An original planning committee included Janie Gabelein, Karen Jeffers, Alice Miller, Carol Spangler, Margaret Tagg and Pat Westling.
Today, the club has 25 members and continues to meet in members’ homes or island restaurants. The group has 10 meetings which include trips to Sally’s Garden in Coupeville, Bayview Farm and Garden and Cultus Bay Nursery.
The club also continues to collect food for the Good Cheer Food Bank each year and donate to the South Whidbey Schools Foundation and the Good Cheer School Garden.
