Langley cut ties with its current legal firm, only to have to ask them to stay on a few weeks longer.
Mayor Fred McCarthy terminated the city’s contract with Kenyon Disend PLLC, of Issaquah, in June. After a few weeks of an open request for proposal, Langley had not received any bids.
To ensure the city has legal representation in the interim, McCarthy told city council he asked Kenyon Disend if the firm would stay on until late August, to which it agreed.
In the meantime, Langley is still searching for a legal firm. McCarthy and some council members reviewed previous bids from 2012 and sent the city’s request for proposal to four firms. The new deadline is Aug. 24. McCarthy said the city would post the proposal with the Washington Bar Association, but did not think $1,000 advertisements with regional daily newspapers were “merited.”
