Nobody was injured when someone fired a handgun into an Oak Harbor home and nearby vehicles this past week, according to the Oak Harbor Police Department.
The Tuesday incident was the third drive-by house shooting on North Whidbey since April, but investigators don’t know if any of them are linked or what the motive might be.
“We’re a little stumped,” Detective Sgt. Jim Bailey said.
At 10:48 p.m. on Dec. 9, officers responded to a report of a shooting on Southwest Roeder Drive. Several neighbors reported hearing the sound of gun shots and of a vehicle leaving the area, according to the police.
Officers located several shell casings from a handgun. They canvased the area and located bullet holes in one home and vehicles parked in the driveway, the police reported.
In July, an unknown person armed with a handgun fired at least five shots on Castilian Way. A bullet hit the house, one hit the garage and the rest struck two parked cars.
The Island County Sheriff’s Office investigated a drive-by shooting of a home on Swantown Road on April 22. Someone fired several shots and hit two houses with what investigators believe was a small-caliber handgun.
Nobody has been injured in any of the shootings.
