Oak Harbor man arrested for murder

A 31-year-old man is accused of murdering a woman at the Lexy Manor Apartments.

Oak Harbor police arrested a 31-year-old man Monday night on suspicion of murdering a woman at the Lexy Manor Apartments on Northeast Seventh Avenue.

The suspect, Phadell Saddler, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder in the second degree. He’s scheduled to make a preliminary appearance in Island County Superior Court Wednesday afternoon.

The Oak Harbor police have not released the name of the victim yet.

The police reported that officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at about 10:15 p.m. at the apartment complex, which is located on a road undergoing long-term reconstruction. Shortly after arriving, police discovered the adult woman deceased inside the apartment.

The Oak Harbor Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 360-279-2600 or the ICOM dispatch center at 911.

Capt. Kevin Barton with the Oak Harbor Police Department said Tuesday morning that investigators aren’t immediately releasing any further details of the crime since it is an active investigation.
