Oasis for Animals, a Langley-based nonprofit rescue, has teamed up with the NOAH Center to provide 15 free cat neuters on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in honor of National Spay Day.

Oasis will transport the cats to the NOAH Center’s spay/neuter clinic in the morning and return with the animals to the island later the same day.

Neutering a pet can help end the suffering of unwanted and homeless animals in the community by preventing unplanned litters. Residents interested in having a cat neutered can contact Oasis for Animals at 321-4142.

Last year, Oasis for Animals transported more than 600 cats — plus a few dogs — to NOAH for low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and Oasis will continue to offer this service to island residents in 2012.

The nonprofit also has humane cat traps for feral, free-roaming cats and NOAH will conduct spay/neuter operations for free. Oasis also has a barn-cat placement program for feral cats.
