Virginia Marie Genuardi, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away June 18, 2002 at Providence Everett Hospital.
She was born on November 17, 1921, in Richland Center, Wis. When she was 7 years old, her family moved west to Washington, settling in Tacoma. There, she graduated from high school and started to pursue a career in nursing.
She met the man of her dreams, Ben Genuardi, and married him in 1947. She spent 50 wonderful years with him.
After 16 years in Tacoma, the family moved to Graham, where they raised their four children, of whom they were very proud. Then, in 1993, they moved to Whidbey Island to spend the rest of their lives in a home overlooking Mutiny Bay.
Mrs. Genuardi loved to cook and would spend hours in the kitchen creating dishes and desserts that would always make people want seconds. When she wasn’t cooking she would knit sweaters and crochet tablecloths to adorn her home.
After losing her beloved husband in 1998, she filled the void with a new friend and companion, Toby, her cairn terrier.
Mrs. Genuardi had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed.
Mrs. Genuardi is survived by her four children, Charlotte Tart, CarolAnn Engeset, Ben Genuardi Jr., and Jeannie Christensen; eight grandchildren, Johnny Allen, Tina Mock, Robert and David Engeset, Tony and Jody Genuardi, Michael and Aaron Christensen, and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, June 22, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Visser Funeral Home in Langley. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma.
