Detectives with the Island County Sheriff’s Office arrested one suspect and are looking for another in the break-in of a Coupeville coffee stand Feb. 19.

Detective Ed Wallace said the juvenile suspect, a Coupeville boy, is facing a burglary charge in Juvenile Court.

The boy was visible entering the Prairie Perks stand in a surveillance video, according to the detective.

Wallace released still images from the video a couple days after the burglary.

In addition, Wallace said he’s trying to locate a second suspect in the case.

He said Sean Thurman, 20, of Coupeville is also suspected of taking part in the break-in.

Wallace said Thurman is a white male, 5-foot-11, 155 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 360-679-9567 or online at tips@co.island.wa.us

Prairie Perks, located on Terry Road, is owned by Island County Assessor Mary Engle.

The burglar broke windows and the door, then left the door standing open for an employee to find in the morning.

Engle said the burglars made a big mess, but didn’t get away with much beyond a stainless steel can of X-Plosion drink mixer.

The intruder also nibbled on cookies.

Ebey Bowl, which is next to the coffee stand, was broken into last summer. In that case, footage from a security camera led detectives to the suspects.
