A motorcycle driver is dead following a collision on South Whidbey Monday night, according to Washington State Patrol.

Brett Higgins, 49, of Freeland was traveling south on Cultus Bay Road near Clinton on a 2008 Buell Lightning motorcycle, the State Patrol reported.

Langley resident Undine Buhler, 79, was turning onto Cultus Bay Road in a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox from Deer Lake Road when the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Higgins was pronounced dead at the scene, and Buhler and her two passengers were not injured, according to the report.

The incident is still under investigation, and the report states it’s unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved or whether charges could be filed.
