Washington state ferries officials are warning travelers to plan ahead for ferry travel today because of the annual Oyster Run motorcycle rally.

The rally will mean “substantially increased” ferry traffic today, and drivers using the ferry system this weekend should plan to leave early and be prepared to wait longer than usual.

Hundreds of motorcycles will be heading for the rally in Anacortes, and the Clinton-Mukilteo and Keystone-Port Townsend routes are expected to be busy.

Motorcyclists traveling from Mukilteo to Clinton will be transported on a first-come, first-served basis. Ferry officials said the Clinton-Mukilteo route is expected to be busy throughout the day, with high volumes early in the day and also late Sunday.

Travelers should take note of limited capacity on the Port Townsend/Keystone route and plan accordingly. This route is served by one 50-auto vessel with service every 90 minutes; reservations are strongly encouraged.
