The South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District board of directors voted to simplify the district’s mission statement at a regular business meeting Wednesday, March 18.

Commissioner Matt Simms noted that the previous statement, which was several sentences long, couldn’t fit on a T-shirt.

Following a vote in which the board unanimously approved the change, the new mission statement was changed to, “parks, facilities and recreation programs for the citizens of South Whidbey Island.”
