Commissioners for the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District pushed off a discussion of next year’s tax levy request at their meeting Wednesday night. Instead, parks officials will hold its annual workshop in early September to analyze both next year’s budget and its maintenance-and-operations requirements. The date hasn’t been finalized.
Currently, the parks district receives M&O revenue based on 15 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value, roughly $720,000 annually.
The parks district plans to ask voters in November 2010 for a renewal of its levy.
“We can go then, or in February the following year,” said parks director Terri Arnold. “Sooner is better, I think.”
