South Whidbey schools continue to be in a perimeter lock-out today following a threat from a former student.

The second day of main front door access-only is just a precaution, a school official said.

“We have no reason to believe the individual is even in the area,” said District Superintendent Jo Moccia.

“Quite frankly, the perimeter lock-out precautions we are taking are good precautions,” she said.

All of the school district’s campuses were using lock-out procedures Thursday after a former student made undisclosed threats. The Langley Police Department and Island County Sheriff’s Office were notified and provided security at the buildings Thursday.

Moccia said the former student had not been enrolled since last year, and was considered a missing person.

Visitors were directed to main offices to sign in and receive passes.
