Langley’s Planning Advisory Board has tabled the decision to pick two members as choices for its new leader.

The advisory panel hasn’t had a chairman since January, when former chairman Russell Sparkman was appointed to the city council.

The group was set to select two people on Wednesday and forward the candidates to Mayor Paul Samuelson, who would then appoint the new chairman.

However, board members Fred Geisler and Julie Buktenica were absent at last night’s meeting and the remaining members did not want to make the choice without the pair present. Instead, the board decided to make their picks at their next meeting on June 11.

Roger Gage will serve as the Planning Advisory Board representative on the policy coordination team of the city of Langley until a permanent chairman has been found.

Since Sparkman vacated the position, multiple meetings of the board have been canceled due to missing members.

Most recently, Samuelson appointed two new members to the board. Jim Sundberg was appointed as a regular member and Craig Moore was named an alternate.
