In Island and Island counties, 92 motorists were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs between Nov. 27 and Jan. 1.
Across the state, a total of 2,723 drivers were cited for DUI during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign.
According to a news release, a similar operation in Skagit and Island counties in 2012 yielded 97 arrests for DUI.
Extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
These and all extra patrols are part of Target Zero, which aims to end traffic deaths and serious injuries in Washington by 2030.
