“Bursting at the seams.” That’s how Port of South Whidbey manager Ed Field described the cramped office space currently rented by the port near the Freeland Library.

But following a months-long search, the port has agreed to make a move into new digs on the ground floor of China City Restaurant on Scott Road in Freeland.

“The port commissioners felt this was an appealing location, close enough to provide an efficient move, and we won’t even have to change our phone number,” Field said.

Though the space offers room for file storage and a small conference room, public port meetings will still be held at the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District headquarters on Maxwelton Road.
