The Port of South Whidbey provided a total of $7,700 to South Whidbey groups and organizations to aid their marketing and advertising plans.
“These grants help promote activities that bring visitors to the island,” said port manager Ed Field. “It’s a key component of the port’s economic development mission.”
Whidbey Island Center for the Arts received $1,000 for marketing upcoming events; the South Whidbey Lions Club got $400 for irrigation at Freeland Park; the Whidbey Farm Tour received $1,000 for advertising; Langley’s Choochokam Arts got $1,500 to help spread the word on the mainland about the arts festival; the South Whidbey Uniquely Whidbey Trade fair got $3,000 and the Clinton Progressive Association received $800 to promote Mayfest.
