Residents can comment on the city’s 2017-2022 six-year transportation improvement plan and its proposed projects. The plan, which is available for viewing on the city’s website, includes nearly a dozen projects and their projected costs. Chief among the projects are repairing the intersection between Cascade Avenue and Sixth Street due to it being in a “poor state of affairs,” said City Public Works Director Stan Berryman.

Grants administered by the Island Transportation Planning Organization will help offset costs for the city, while the monies from the general fund will also be utilized to pay for repairs.

Other projects over the next six years include an overlay on Second Street, repairs to Debruyn Avenue and First Street sidewalk, milling and overlay on First Street and reconstruction of Anthes Avenue.
