Whidbey Island Quakers are newly renamed as “Whidbey Island Friends Meeting,” showing their closer ties to regional and national Quaker groups. They hold regular meetings for worship every Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist building, located at 20103 Highway 525 about two miles north of Freeland.
This time of silent worship together may include spoken messages or sharing of spiritual journeys. On the first Sunday of each month, an additional time of singing at 3:30 p.m. precedes the worship service. As the 17th century founder of Quakers, George Fox, wrote in his journal: “Walk cheerfully over the world, answering that of God in everyone.”
