A large, bright red crane at the Clinton Ferry Terminal was helping the Washington State Department of Transportation, Ferries Division, take care of maintenance upkeep this week.

Joy Goldenberg, a ferries spokeswoman, said the crane helped workers replace the rub timbers on the wing walls, the black barriers that halt the ferry. They were also replacing the counterweight cables on the ramps.

“It’s pretty basic maintenance,” said Goldenberg, adding that it should wrap Thursday. “It’s scheduled to happen before we have an issue.”
