Grethe Cammermeyer is the unanimous choice of a five-member selection committee to become the South End's representative on the Whidbey General Hospital board of directors, the board's president said today.

Grethe Cammermeyer is the unanimous choice of a five-member selection committee to become the South End’s representative on the Whidbey General Hospital board of directors, the board’s president said today.

She is expected to be confirmed at the board’s meeting tonight in Coupeville, Dr. Roger Case said.

“It’s not official yet,” Case said, “but I can’t imagine she won’t be confirmed.”

Cammermeyer, 66, has lived on Whidbey Island since 1995. A Langley resident, she’s a registered nurse with a doctorate’s degree in nursing science and 31 years of military service, including a tour as chief nurse of the Washington State National Guard and a career in the Veterans Administration Medical Care System.

She owns and manages Saratoga View, an extended-family adult home in Langley, and is a board member of the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation.

She would fill the District 1 vacancy left in August by Holly Schoenknecht, of Langley, who retired after 15 years on the board.
