Several South Whidbey roads to be restricted during triathlon

The upcoming Whidbey Island Triathlon will cause several roads to be restricted or closed Saturday, Aug. 16.

The upcoming Whidbey Island Triathlon will cause several roads to be restricted or closed Saturday, Aug. 16.

According to a South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District news release, a handful of roads will be closed from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the day of the race. Several others will have bicyclists and runners, and drivers are urged to be cautious.

Lakeside Drive: one way only (northwest-bound) between Traverse and Pintail roads, with no street parking except select volunteers from 8 to 9:45 a.m.

Traverse Road and Lakeside Drive closed from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Limited turns from Bayview Road onto Andreason Road from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

DeBruyn Road closed between Saratoga Road and Third Street.

Second Street closed between Park and DeBruyn avenues.

Triathlon racers may be seen on the following routes between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.: Lone Lake Road between Andreason and Saratoga roads; Goss Lake Road between Traverse and Lone Lake roads; Saratoga Road between Lone Lake and Park roads; DeBruyn Avenue between Saratoga Road and Third Street; Third Street/Brooks Hill Road/Bayview Road between DeBruyn Avenue and Andreason Road; Park Road between Saratoga Road and Camano Avenue; Camano Avenue/Langley Road between Park Road and Sports Complex Park; and Maxwelton Road between Langley Road and South Whidbey High School.
