Island County will host a free workshop Thursday, Nov. 12 on South Whidbey for contractors, consultants and other professionals working on shoreline projects.

Coastal geologist Jim Johannessen will discuss coastal and bluff processes, regulations for hard and soft shore protection, alternatives to hard armoring and an overview of the development of a streamlined permitting process and available incentives for soft shore projects in Island County.

The workshop is 2-5 p.m. at the South Whidbey Parks Recreation District’s headquarters, room 125, 5475 Maxwelton Road, Langley.
