In an unusual twist, six shops won the Deck the Doors contest in Langley, even though only five were originally slated to be announced.

Boat Yard Inn and the Whidbey Art Gallery split awards for their doors, and artists Mynda Myers and Pat Brookes, Dan Burroughs and Mike Burroughs, who decorated the entryways, split the $1,000 cash prize.

More than 40 stores’ doors were decorated, the most since the Langley Main Street Association has run the contest.

Other winners included Ott & Murphy Wine Tasting by artist Diane Kaufman; Prima Bistro’s back door by artist Cary Jurrians; Museo and artist Larry Woolworth; and Animal Hospital by the Sea with artist Susan Jensen.
