The Island County Sheriff’s Office has announced the creation of a smart-phone application for crime victims and the public.
VINEMobile allows users to anonymously check on the real-time custody status of offenders in their area.
Users can also sign up to receive alerts when that status changes.
“I think it’s a very good thing that victims can track offenders,” Sheriff Mark Brown said.
The app is a mobile version of WASAVIN, the statewide automated victim and notification service. It has provided information and notifications about offenders in custody since 2007.
