Brave drivers may have seen a city truck plowing snow with the first decent dusting of the year March 22.
Langley planned for vehicle replacements in the budget for the past three years, and finally moved forward with the purchase as the other vehicles were on their last leg, with one being 20 years old. The $6,000 plow was an add-on to one of the vehicles.
Public Works also upgraded the vehicles to use alternative engine biodiesel which added just over $7,000 to the vehicle cost. The total vehicle cost with the upgrade to the alternative fuel and plow was just over $42,000.
During snow, Langley’s priority is clearing the bus route and the main arterials. Side streets and neighborhoods are next on the list.
