The Soroptimists of South Whidbey Island held their first Grants and Awards Dinner of the year on March 3.
Recipients of the grants included Whidbey Island Share a Home, a home sharing matching service on the island; Helping Hand of South Whidbey, which provides financial assistance for basic services including utilities and rent; the Toddler Learning Center, which provides therapy and individualized education services for South Whidbey infants and toddlers with learning disabilities; Girl Scout Daisy Troop, a new kindergarten troop that does not yet have cookie funds to keep dues low; South Whidbey Youth Connection to fund two female participants at the Hub in Langley for the year; South Whidbey Commons to fund the coffeehouse bookstore job training program, activities and services; Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund, which provides financial assistance for patients’ medical bills; and Good Cheer Food Bank of South Whidbey.
Each of these groups meets the Soroptimist mission of supporting women and girls on South Whidbey Island.
