Interfaith series continues at Trinity
The Interfaith series at Trinity Lutheran Church continues at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Fireside Room.
The second speaker of the series will be Adnan Bakkar, who has taught Islam for more than
40 years. He is a member of the Idcriss Mosque in Seattle and serves as a trustee of the mosque. A retired Boeing engineer, Bakkar spends his time volunteering as an interpreter in the court system, hospitals and mental clinics. He also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
Trinity Lutheran is at the corner of Highway 525 and Woodard Road.
Human relationships is the focus of sermon
Human relationships are rewarding, tricky, exciting, frustrating, fragile, tough and much more.
At the Sunday service for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island,
Rev. Kit Ketcham will consider how our spiritual and religious perspectives inform our actions, and what we can do to be more successful in our relationships.
There will be a dedicated offering to benefit WAIF.
All are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided.

Paul’s first letter inspires sermon
Tomorrow’s sermon at South Whidbey Community Church will be “Celebration of True Love” by Pastor Darrell Wenzek and based on Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth (chapter 13).
Sunday worship at SWCC is from 10 to 11 a.m. and is preceded by an adult learning forum at 9 a.m. with Stan Walker leading a study in the book of First Corinthians, and Rick Zapata leading a study in the book of Genesis: the life of Abraham. These are open classes and everyone is invited. Home Bible studies are also offered; check the church website for times and locations.

Gospel services will be Sunday in Clinton
Special gospel services will be held at Clinton Community Hall on Sundays, from Feb. 13 through March 13.
Services start at 11 a.m.
These Bible-based services are in a preaching format and last one hour. There will be no collections taken. All are welcome.
‘All You Need is Love’ is Unity topic
With Valentine’s Day coming up, the thoughts of many are turning to love. Love inspires, inflames and impassions us.
We are told that God is love, Jesus said to love your enemies and Hinduism devotes an entire practice to the way of love. Is love an emotion, a decision, an attitude or something else?
At the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday, Rev. Patty Becker will offer some insights into the way of love, as well as practical strategies to cultivate it in life’s most challenging circumstances.
Music will be provided by Talia Toni Marcus. Donna Vanderheiden will be the platform assistant.

Christian Science service is on ‘Soul’
Sometimes we fear that we can lose our soul and be forever separated from God. Yet nothing can be “lost” or separated within the omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent God (“Mind, Spirit, Life”).
On Sunday, Feb. 13, the Christian Science service examines “Soul” and how we reflect all the qualities of Soul in ways that can’t be dimmed or lost.
