Plenty of activities from which to choose.

Pastor Ottum speaks on the path of Christ

The adult class this Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church will focus on how faith unfolds in Passion week. Starting with his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Jesus begins the mission he came to this world to fulfill — his death and resurrection.  All are welcome to come join and follow the path of Christ through this week with Pastor Eric Ottum.

The class is at 9:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Trinity Lutheran, Highway 525 and Woodard Road.

Unity of Whidbey talk is ‘Just Let Go’

Songwriter Doug Benecke will discuss “Just Let Go” at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.

It’s such a struggle — until it’s not. Our busy cerebral lives keep us engaged with the feeling of life as a battle, of wits or skill; against the elements, an adversary or our own natures. What if our lives could be a flow? What if we could learn to find happiness in letting go of expectations, or preferences?

On Sunday, Benecke and violinist Talia Toni Marcus collaborate on a discussion and music focused on letting go — and letting God in. Karen McInerney will serve as platform assistant.

A Course in Miracles group meets 3:30 to 5 p.m. All are welcome.

The service is at 10 a.m. Visit Unity of Whidbey’s website at http://www.unityofwhidbeyisland.org for more information.

Ministering to each other at UUCWI

At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service on Sunday, Rev. Bill Graves will consider the idea that we all need to be ministers to each other, encouraging each other’s spiritual growth.

This is an invitation to experience church involvement on a much deeper level than merely as a consumer. Graves is consulting minister to the Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Tacoma.

All are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided. The service is at 10 a.m. at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland.

Pastor Wenzek and choices at SWCC

All of us at some point in our lives are faced with a decision that will dramatically alter our life. Sunday morning at South Whidbey Community Church, Pastor Darrell Wenzek will speak on the topic, “You Have a Choice to Make,” based on a selection from the Old Testament book of Joshua, Chapter 8.

Pastor Ron Wedeking will speak on Easter Sunday, April 24, and there will be a potluck at the Grange immediately following worship. Guests and visitors are all invited.

Sunday worship at SWCC is from 10 to 11 a.m. and is preceded by an adult learning forum at 9 a.m., with Stan Walker leading a study in the Book of First Corinthians, and Rick Zapata leading a study in the Book of Genesis: the life of Abraham.

Sunday service centers on atonement

On Sunday, April 17, the Christian Science service defines atonement (or at-one-ment with God) as the recognition that each individual, unified with God, “…reflects divine Truth, Life, and Love…,” (“Science and Health”).

From this definition, the service explores how Jesus, through his work and love, taught that all can share in God’s love, meeting every human need, throughout time. “… We also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement,” (Romans 5:11).

This special service on the “Doctrine of Atonement” begins at 10:30 a.m. at 15910 Highway 525, just north of Bayview and across from Useless Bay Road).

The Whidbey Island Jewish Community will celebrate Passover with a Seder at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island meeting hall in Freeland.
