The South Whidbey Garden Club is seeking grant applications from nonprofit and educational organizations interested in projects to benefit the community.
The club uses proceeds from its annual plant sale, held every May, for the grant program; about $20,000 has been awarded over the past few years, according to a recent news release.
“We look forward to receiving your grant application and learning about your possible project that will enhance our community on South Whidbey Island,” said club organizers, in the release.
Considered proposals should foster or demonstrate the following outcomes: Environmental stewardship, horticultural education and community beautification.
Only nonprofit and educational organizations will be considered. Funds should be earmarked for the purchase of supplies or to provide educational services. No more than 10 percent of the amount awarded can be used for administrative costs. Also, the grant funds can be used as matching for larger funding proposals. The maximum amount awarded is $500.
Proposal deadline is Dec. 15. To information about how to submit, email Barb Enberg at gonfishn@whid
