The Port of South Whidbey has received another perfect review from the Washington State Auditor’s Office.

The state has issued a three-year accountability audit of the port, covering the years 2008 through 2010, and found no problems with the district’s compliance with state regulations and port procedures.

“In the areas we examined, the port’s internal controls were adequate to safeguard public assets,” the audit report states. “The port also complied with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures in the areas we examined.”

The port district was formed in 1964 and operates a marina and several parks. It is run by a three-member board of commissioners, and had a budget of more than $1 million in 2010.

The recent audit marks the continuation of a flawless record for the port; the district has never had a state audit that uncovered problems.

“We appreciate the financial support given us by the South Whidbey community, and we’re pleased the auditor has recognized our continued adherence to these high standards,” said Port Finance Manager Ron Rhinehart.
