SOUTH WHIDBEY SHERIFF’S REPORT | Ransacked mail, a man with a stick and a frog-egg hunter

The following items are 9-1-1 reports to the Island County Sheriff’s Office, south precinct. Wednesday, June 4 8:38 a.m. — A caller reported Cottonwood Lane is a county road and someone felled trees within the last 48 hours to block access to the property and has posted no trespassing signs. 11:27 a.m. — A caller on Goodell Road reported community mailboxes were broken into. 4:11 p.m. — A caller on Adams Road advised his mail has been stolen. He is missing a check and believes it was stolen yesterday. The mailbox was also full of different people’s mail.

Wednesday, June 4

11:27 a.m. — A caller on Goodell Road reported community mailboxes were broken into.

4:11 p.m. — A caller on Adams Road advised his mail has been stolen. He is missing a check and believes it was stolen yesterday. The mailbox was also full of different people’s mail.

4:31 p.m. — A caller at a Freeland grocery store reported a shoplift that occurred yesterday. The caller said they just confirmed it with video today.

5:08 p.m. — A caller on Durham Way reported a transient male that lives near Hansen and Bob Galbreath roads went into one of the caller’s neighbor’s back yard.

5:23 p.m. — A caller on Classic Road and Highway 525 reported a white male with short dark hair and a goatee is carrying a knife. He had it hiding behind his back and looks like he might be waiting for someone.

6:13 p.m. — A caller on April Drive advised a male is yelling and ranting up and down the roadway.

7:03 p.m. — A caller on Classic Road reported she found two garbage bags in front of her property full of opened mail and packages for different people in the area.

11:06 a.m. — A caller on Crosscreek Way said they just got home and found opened mail in her mailbox from another address.

 

Thursday, June 5

8:24 a.m. — A caller on Humphrey Road advised the owner of a Ford Bronco with smashed-out windows is over in the lot next to storage units. He appears to be agitated, stabbing the ground with a stick.

1:28 p.m. — A caller on Cloudstone Lane reported a Jeep Cherokee with a female driver in their driveway. The woman said she was looking for someone she knew, but upon further questioning stated she was looking for frog eggs.

5:38 p.m. — A caller on Cultus Bay Road reporting finding other people’s mail in their mailbox.

 

Friday, June 6

2:44 p.m. — A caller reported a female that was banned from a Freeland grocery stores for writing bad checks was in the store with a male and stole a sandwich.

2:56 p.m. — A caller on Sandberg Lane reported mail theft, finding people’s mail scattered all over his lawn.

7:11 p.m. — A caller at the Clinton Ferry Terminal reported a male in a blue Honda Accord has been ranting, raving and yelling by himself in the car.

10:44 p.m. — A caller on Smugglers Cove Road reported a subject sitting on the ground who appears to have been drinking or is on drugs.
