The South Whidbey School District school board will finalize negotiations with teachers from the South Whidbey Education Association during a special meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Changes to the tentative agreement on the agenda include the superintendent choosing positions for equally qualified employees (formerly chosen by seniority), additional half-days for professional development, additional time for technology integration, moving to a 183-day work calendar for the 2013-2014 school year, an increase added to time, responsibility and incentive pay for 2014-2015 and the implementation of the teacher/principal evaluation project.
“We have reached a fair and equitable agreement,” said Superintendent Jo Moccia. “We have a good working relationship.”
The special meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a workshop following at 6:45 p.m. The meeting will take place at South Whidbey Elementary School, 5380 Maxwelton Road, Langley.
