State transportation officials are hoping ferry riders will jump at the chance to give their opinion on ferry issues.

The Washington State Transportation Commission is creating the Ferry Riders’ Opinion Group, or FROG, to get the views and concerns of ferry travelers on issues such as fares, ferry reservations, time-of-day pricing and other topics.

Transportation officials say the group will have a direct line of communication to the transportation commission, Washington State Ferries, the governor and the Legislature and will have a voice on important decisions made about the ferry system.

The FROG is expected to be a cross-section of ferry riders, and may include as may as 15,000 participants. People can sign up by filling out a survey while onboard the ferry during January, or by going to the survey Web site at www.ferryridersopiniongroup.com/public.
