Students start work learning in South Whidbey schools

For the fall semester, 18 students at South Whidbey High School joined the Work-Based Learning Program. The students will work at 14 different sites in the community, according to a monthly report from Superintendent Jo Moccia.

For the fall semester, 18 students at South Whidbey High School joined the Work-Based Learning Program. The students will work at 14 different sites in the community, according to a monthly report from Superintendent Jo Moccia.

This is an increase from the summer which had 15 high school students at 10 sites.

The program is a great opportunity for students to get real-world work experience and receive high school credit, she said.

The placements this semester include Ace Hardware, Island Athletic Club, Good Cheer Distribution Center, Gordon’s Restaurant, Bliss Salon, Good Cheer Food Bank, Source Media, Star Store, Dairy Queen, South Whidbey Commons Coffee House and Books, South Whidbey Elementary School, Work Force Development, Maple Ridge and Freeland Library.
