South Whidbey Superintendent Jo Moccia’s three-year contract was unanimously renewed by school board members at a meeting Wednesday night.
The contract extends Moccia’s employment until June 30, 2024. Her annual salary is $197,825.
Under the contract, the board has until June 30 to evaluate her performance based on written criteria, review her salary and decide whether to adjust the salary upwards for subsequent contract years.
At the Jan. 27 meeting, the four school board members that were present agreed that Moccia has shown leadership over the past year in regards to her response to the pandemic and confronting systemic racism.
Moccia’s contract renewal was approved in a 4-0 vote, with Andrea Downs not voting because she was not present at the meeting.
