Equestrians and horse lovers who want to get ahead of their spring cleaning have just a few more days to sign up for a table at a tack sale happening next week.
Realizing that she had a lot of horse-related equipment laying around that she wanted to get rid of, Kim Olmstead was inspired to ask her fellow community members if they might be interested in joining her to have one big sale for it all.
“Every one of us at certain times has tried to sell our equipment and our tack,” Olmstead said. “My reasoning is, I have a lot.”
For just $10, people can rent a table at the tack sale happening 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 24 at the Whidbey Island Fairgrounds Pole Building.
Olmstead has been surprised by the amount of interest the sale has garnered so far. At least 20 tables have been reserved.
In addition to the fee for renting a table, which helps pay for the space for the day, Olmstead asks that renters consider a donation to the Hope Therapeutic Riding Program.
To sign up for a table, email filly@whidbey.com or call 360-643-3332.
Shoppers will be able to find saddles, clothing, equipment, training items, books and anything remotely related to horses and their care or riding.
The tack sale is something Olmstead hopes might become a new annual tradition.
“I just think it’s a cool way to bring the community together and have people meet and greet and just have some fun,” she said. “You know, swap horse tales.”
