Davis/Schultz 6-2, 6-4It’s really too bad the Falcon tennis team is not officially part of the Wesco League this season. On Thursday, the South Whidbey girls rolled over their fourth Wesco AAA opponent of the year when they smothered Arlington 5-2 at South Whidbey High School, moving to a 4-1 overall record.Doubles play was the secret of the Falcons’ success in the matchup. Sophomore Jenny Saephan teamed up with new partner Megan Forbes at Number 1 doubles and continued the winning tradition she started with Paige Jolley in the first four matches of the season, handily beating their Eagles opponents 6-1, 6-4.Reconstituting their pairing from last year, seniors Kelsey Ellis and Brita Fisher picked up another win at Number 2 doubles, while Katie Shapiro and Mandi Malecki pulled off a 6-2, 6-4 result at number three. In singles, Number 1 Lindsay Sievers had an easy time of it in 6-0, 6-2 win. Sophomore Kylie Bozym was the other Falcon singles winner. But it took her a set to warm into her Number 4 match, taking a narrow 7-6 win in the first set before burying her opponent 6-0 in the second set.”
