Prosperity is the message at Unity
A special message will be delivered at Unity of Whidbey this Sunday as Rev. Patti Becker returns to speak on prosperity and abundance.
Formerly minister at Unity of Bellevue, Becker will offer further elaboration and discussion in a smaller gathering after the regular service.
All are invited. The service begins at 10 a.m. at Bayview Hall, with time for socializing and refreshment before the class meets downstairs.
Friends of Unity may be interested to learn of the progress on the site of the new church, which is currently represented by the tower on Crawford Road just off Highway 525 south of Bayview.
Teachings of Jesus is topic of sermon
Jesus Christ said, “I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.” (John 10:10, Contemporary English Version of the Bible).
You can apply Jesus’ teachings to your life today to free yourself from want and to experience the life that Jesus discussed. This is the subject of the sermon on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Christian Science Church at 2411 E. Highway 525 (across from Useless Bay Road) on South Whidbey.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m.
‘The God Who Saves’ on Sunday
Sunday morning’s speaker at South Whidbey Community Church is Dr. Dana Wright, whose sermon topic is, “The God Who Saves is the God Who Creates,” based on Genesis 1:26-2:4.
Wright received a Master of Divinity Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a doctorate degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, in the area of Christian Education. He is currently director of Christian Formation and Discipleship at First Presbyterian Church in Everett.
Each worship service begins at 10 a.m. and is preceded at 9 a.m. by two adult-learning forums: one is a discussion of the Book of Romans, led by Stan Walker; the other a study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, led by Jim Craft. And midweek Bible studies continue in the Gospel of Luke, at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, led by Art Angst at Rick and Dinah Zapata’s home.
South Whidbey Community Church is open to everyone and gathers for worship each Sunday at the Deer Lagoon Grange, 5142 Bayview Road, Langley.
The church is a newly-formed independent, evangelical, non-denominational church. For more information, go to www.swcchurch.wordpress.com.
