Three people were injured Thursday afternoon when a minivan driven by a Coupeville woman hit a vehicle parked next to Highway 20 north of Oak Harbor.

According to the State Patrol, a 2007 Honda minivan driven by Janis Erdman left the roadway and hit a 1998 Chevy truck that was parked by the side of the road. The driver of the truck, Jason Stringfield of Sedro-Woolley, was standing next to his vehicle when it was hit. The truck then struck Stringfield, 27.

A passenger in the truck, Karen Howard, 24, of Mount Vernon, was also injured.

Erdman, 62, was taken to Island Hospital in Anacortes. Stringfield and Howard were also taken to the hospital.

Both vehicles were totaled.

The State Patrol said driver inattention was the likely cause of the crash, which is still under investigation.
