One more name was added to the running for Port of South Whidbey’s District 2 Commissioner, representing Langley.

Dean Enell of Langley submitted his name to the port on Monday, Feb. 24 contesting Langley resident Ed Halloran for the position.

In application materials, Enell cited his experience in project management and web and computer software development for Boeing. Enell has lived on South Whidbey for 24 years and previously ran for a seat in 2008 against former commissioner Chris Jerome. Enell is currently involved in groups including the Island County Planning Commission, Conservation Futures Program and Clinton Ferry Advisory Committee, according to his resume.

The commissioners planned to appoint one of the candidates during a special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The meeting occurred after press time and could not be reported on for the Wednesday edition of The Record.

The commissioners were set to interview candidates during the meeting and review the qualifications of each candidate in an executive session. The commissioners would then resume the meeting and appoint a new commissioner for the position previously held by Jerome.

The term will continue from the appointment through the next regular port election in Nov. 2015.
