Volunteer receives vehicle in Good Cheer raffle draw

Langley resident Kathy Trudeau was the recipient of a 1999 Lexus RX300 on Dec. 26, thanks to a raffle drawing by Good Cheer Food Bank. Trudeau is a longtime volunteer at Good Cheer. Her old vehicle was damaged during the recent windstorms that struck South Whidbey while transporting a friend home from the hospital.

“She’s one of those people who drops everything when someone is in need,” said Shawn Nowlin, community outreach coordinator for the food bank.

Trudeau also volunteers with the South Whidbey Homeless Coalition where she helps transport those without vehicles to doctor appointments and other activities.

Participants purchased a $5 ticket in the hopes of winning the vehicle. The proceeds from the event benefited the food bank.
